One of the things that makes Houston so awesome? How naturally beautiful the city is. And who do we have to thank for that? Plain and simple. Mother Nature. Houston is full of opportunities to help in anyway that interests you! Between seasonal volunteer opportunities and year long non-profits needing help you’ll easily be able to find something you’re passionate about and spend a little time this week giving thanks. Houston is such a beautiful city with so much art, food and scenery. The only problem? There’s no way you can see and try it all in a quick amount of time. Well we’re here to save you the hassle. The Artsy Instagram Account
One of the coolest things about Houston that we don’t get to see nearly enough of is its graffiti. So it’s a good thing that @houtxgrown is here to spotlight their favorite graffiti on their Instagram account for all to see. You get it all in one place without having to travel all the streets looking for your favorites. (Photo courtesy of @houtxgrown Instagram).
The Foodie Instagram Account
We get it. There’s only room enough in your stomach for so much every day and there’s no way you can try all of Houston’s amazing food joints before a new one pops up. But don’t worry because @HungerHouston is here to try it all for you and show you their favorites. Next time you need some food inspiration head over to their page and decide your next meal (Photo courtesy of @HungerHouston).

Then, when you’re not busy you know exactly what to go check out without having to do much research! Go ahead Houston, push follow. You won’t regret it!
Well Texas, it’s come and gone yet again. The Texas State Fair marks such a happy point in summer. It’s still warm, yet starting to cool down a little and everyone starts getting in that fall mood. The Texas State Fair is always buzzing with fun and bringing new surprises to Texans far and wide. We at Alta City West thought we would end the summer with a Photo Blog: The Best Of The Texas State Fair just to remind us of the good times before winter comes along and we realize we won’t see the fair again for another year. Grab the tissues Houston, we’ll be sharing our favorite memories of Big Tex.
The Texas version of a surf and turf except it’s all mixed into one, deep fried and served with champagne gravy. YUM. (Photo from here).
Only Texans know the importance of serving meat with our alcohol. It’s just something that needs to be done. Kudos to whoever invented this beauty. (Photo from here).
It’s a well-known fact that livestock lives better in Texas and the State Fair shows this off perfectly. Every year we are more and more impressed with the livestock. This pig did such an excellent job, he deserved a nap. (Photo from here).
Sadly the fair is gone for the year but the memories will live on until next year and we’ll be sitting thinking about the foods for the next 6 months. If you didn’t get a chance to make it we hope next year you head over to experience it for yourself! Because we really do do it bigger in Texas.
We get it that the pressure is on this Halloween to always show up in some incredibly funny and witty Halloween costume. But who really has time for all that? It seems that everyone caught onto the Snapchat filter fun this year and one of the most recognizable ones was the rainbow mouth. Paint some rainbow onto your face and do a little eye make up and you’re good to go. People will be trying to take Snapchats with you all night long. (Photo from here).
