Houston is full of fun, festive events to celebrate the holidays. Whether it’s an ice skating rink or Christmas market you’re looking for, Houston has it all. Here are some of the city’s best events for all ages!

Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens

When: November 12 – January 18

Where: Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa, & Convention Center

Come see Santa parachute from a plane and celebrate Christmas with Caribbean flair at Moody Gardens’ 15th annual Festival of Lights. As one of the Gulf Coast’s largest holiday lighting displays, the festival holds over a million lights across 100 animated, sound-enhanced exhibits and nightly entertainment. You can also take pictures with Santa and skate around on the outdoor ice rink!

Zoo Lights

When: November 18 – January 14

Where: Houston Zoo

This holiday season, stroll through the Houston zoo as it turns into a winter wonderland – complete with festive tunes, holiday lights, and life-size animated animal sculptures. There will be cookie decorating, too!

Magical Winter Lights

When: November 18 – January 8

Where: Gulf Greyhound Park

This festival is open everyday this holiday season, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Even, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. From six intricately detailed scenes (ranging from Magical Wonderland to Landmarks of the World) to an interactive dinosaur exhibit and acrobatic performances, this is not your average holiday festival!

11th Annual Winter Holiday Art Market (WHAM)

When: November 18 – November 20

Where: Winter Street Studios

Head to this weekend art sale for some of Houston’s most unique, original art. Shop paintings, photography, sculpture, clothing, jewelry, and more at this special exhibition. WHAM will also feature art demonstrations from local artists, live music, and refreshments. A perfect place to find one-of-a-kind gifts!

Uptown Holiday Lighting

When: November 24

Where: on Oak Post Boulevard, between Westheimer and San Felipe

A local tradition every Thanksgiving Eve, thousands gather for the lighting of Post Oak Boulevard’s festive light display. The event is free, and there will be holiday music, various decorations, and a special visit from Santa Claus!

 

Black Friday Weekend Pop Shop Festival

When: November 25-27

Where: Silver Street Houston

Don’t miss Houston’s largest art market, where visitors shop art, handmade crafts, vintage pieces, and more. Every single item for sale is handmade, and many of the pieces are made by local artists. Bonus: Your admission also includes tastings from many local restaurants!
